Why are we proud to be members of the Pet Professional Guild?
The Pet Professional Guild is known as the Association for Force-free Professionals. They encourage and educate against the use of pain, fear, and force in the care and training of animals. Their philosophies are based on science-based fact and provide resources on their website to explain their stance as well as provide alternatives to popular training techniques that use pain, fear, or force.
By becoming a member of this organization, we will not use pain, fear, or force in our practices, nor will we recommend it to our clients. This being said, our members will not use the commonly used prong collar (spiked collar), choke chain, or remote electronic devices to work with an animal. Does this mean we won't service you? No, but we will be using our own equipment to care and walk your dog and will encourage you to do the same. We also don't believe in "Alpha-ism", the philosophy that we must dominate our animals in order to have relationships with them. The research this commonplace philosophy is based on is outdated (by several decades in fact) and is not relevant to natural dog behavior. Ask us why or check out the Pet Professional Guild's website for more information.
